I am pregnant. Can I still book a treatment at the Aesthetic Lounge?
When pregnant or lactating, we ask that you consult with your doctor or other healthcare professional before booking a treatment with us. Though all of our treatments are safe and approved by Health Canada, we recommend pregnant or lactating patients refrain from laser hair removal and injectables, such as Botox® and dermal fillers, to ensure the safety of themselves and their babies.
Can I book a treatment if I am on medication or suffering from certain health problems?
We recommend consulting with your doctor or other healthcare professional before booking a treatment with us. Should you decide to proceed with an appointment, please explain any medications or health conditions to the medical aesthetician during your appointment.
How does Botox® work?
Botox® injections contain a toxin called onabotulinumtoxinA that temporarily prevents your muscles from contracting. Its presence blocks certain chemical signals from the nerves, including the ones responsible for muscle movements. Botox® is commonly used to relax facial muscles in order to reduce and prevent wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. They can also be used as an alternative treatment for more troublesome maladies such as TMJ, which may include headaches, clenching/grinding, and sleep bruxism. After you have been examined, a Lounge aesthetician will provide you with a customized treatment plan to help achieve the results you desire.
Is Botox® safe? What are the possible side effects?
When performed by an experienced aesthetician, Botox® is extremely safe. As with all medical procedures, there are possible side effects. Side effects are rare but can include a short-term headache immediately after the treatment, pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, muscle weakness, muscle stiffness, eye dryness, and dry mouth.
Does Botox® hurt?
If administered by a skilled and experienced medical aesthetician, like those at the Aesthetic Lounge, Botox® is extremely tolerable and sometimes even pain-free. However, we do offer numbing creams to our patients in order to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
How soon after my first injection should I repeat my Botox® treatment?
Botox® treatments typically last three months, after which the effects wear off and muscles return to normal by the six-month mark. We recommend receiving Botox® treatments every three months.
When will I notice the results of my Botox® treatment?
You will notice the results of your Botox® treatment within two to four days, and you may even experience continuous improvement in the weeks to follow.
How do dermal fillers work?
Dermal fillers restore volume to the skin by boosting it with hyaluronic acid (a key ingredient in our injectable gel). In doing this, fillers revitalize the skin, instantly minimizing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, creating a soft, smooth, and plump look.
Are dermal fillers safe? What are the possible side effects?
When performed by an experienced aesthetician, dermal fillers are extremely safe. As with all medical procedures, there are possible side effects. Side effects are rare but can include redness, bruising, swelling, bleeding, itching, and discolouration at the injection site.
When will I notice the results of my dermal filler treatment?
You will start to notice the results of your dermal fillers immediately after receiving the treatment. However, it can take up to four weeks for the filler to fully integrate into the tissue.
